I am trying something new over at my recipe and food related blog. As I was sitting here thinking of something to post on my personal blog I came up with the idea of posting some of my favorite cooking websites and having the readers send in their favorite recipes and or websites and I will post them on the recipe blog.
So I have been following Chris Pirillo for a few years now since we attended his Gnomedex Conference in Des Moines Iowa in 2002. In fact we went to 3 of his Gnomedex Conferences 2 were in Iowa which was really nice because we only lived 3 hours away. The thrid one we attended was in Lake Tahoe which was a lot of fun. Anyway, back to my point. Chris has been blogging for years and has always had some good tips for his readers and this one is no exception. I think he is does a good job of finding new content to post on a daily basis. I really wonder how he does it. I have been blogging on and off since 2002 and find myself having a hard time finding something worthy to blog about. I love blogging just have trouble finding content.

Where do I begin? Last night while I was trying to find out why my blog was not being indexed by Google I discovered that my atom feed was not working properly. I have had my feed enabled on my blog ever since Google AKA blogger had that built in. Anyway, after researching this I asked my hubby how that could have happened as I have never messed with the feed until last night. All this time I have been pinging weblogs.com but, my feed was not correct. This should have been a simple fix as much as I am in the settings area of my blog I should have been able to figure this out. I wound up spending hours on this problem that took me 10 minutes to fix of course with help from my hubby. When I started blogging there were not rss or atom feeds available. Before Google built that in if you wanted an rss or atom feed you had to put a little piece of code on your blog. I did not want to bother with that as I knew nothing about html. I still do not know a lot about html but, with some work I am able to do things with the template without having to ask for help.
I really do not pay much attention to blog anniversary's or blogiversary's until I read Zoot's post about her blogiversary. Then it dawned on me that my blog anniversary had passed way back in August. I have blogged on and off since August of 2002. After reading her post it occured to me that I had not posted my blogging story. So here it goes. Being the geeks that we were my husband and I attended a conference in Des Moines IA called Gnomedex. I think it was the 2nd year that they had the conference and back then TechTV was still techtv and had not been purchased by G4 and trashed. We drove from our home at the time in Moline Illinois to Des Moines IA which is like driving to Tuscaloosa from Huntsville or Vice Versa. Back to the story at hand here.We heard one of the speakers named Evan Williams speak. He was the CEO of Pyra Labs which started Blogger. Anyway, we thought what the heck start a blog it can't be that hard to do. Of course not everybody had a blog back then most people never heard of a blog back then. So after the weekend was over we drove back home on promptly started a blog. Of course we did not know what we were going to post just that we were doing something that was not mainstream yet. We then continued to watch blogging community explode and change. It is kind of neat to see and hear how it all started. I still do not know what, when or if I am going to post daily. I do not always post daily or weekly for that matter but when the urge strikes I make a post every now and then.
